Artist's Comments

One of the most basic of Chordist tools, the psychic scalpel is what enables the Talented Mind to physically interact with the diaphanous silver Aetheric strands that connect all things great and small.

This web of energy has been theorized and experimented with for a millennium, but was only proven and explored properly in the aftermath of Black Death The Second. It was Anthus Zinncatate of New Ferrotropa that first developed the filters to see into the Aetheric Realms of Websworld, The Soul Yards, and The Rift Of The Many.

Since that time, a group that formed in honor of Sir Zinncatate the Touched, The Chordists, have become the primary workers of the Aetheric Arts.

Each strand vibrates with a combination of supertones, or a Chord, that controls the connection between the matter on each end of it. By altering or severing the connection, you control how reality interacts, thereby altering reality itself seemingly without touching the matter at hand.

This artifact has been carefully selected to represent a common tool of the Chordists during their height of strength during the Grand Cascadian Empire's rise. The original power source had been removed so that no accidents will happen, but I imagine an industrious and Talented Mind could figure out a new way to power it.

There are two kinds of people: Those who look for funny things to put in their signatures, those who come up with funny things for their signatures, and those who purposely don't keep track of numbers to make whatever they write seem funny.
:iconbordertowndirector:
hmmm... you wouldn't happen to have a collection of writings about the Chordists organized somewhere would you? it's a rather interesting cosmology

I like how it's slightly reminiscent of a Crucifix, yet still maintains the Steampunkery.

The basic cosmology of the chordists has been something floating around my head for a long time... maybe 12 years now or more? And its all based on some things I have been thinking about since I was a child and trying to refine into something original.

warning, spoiler!

You might say that what I am doing with my art is giving you the ideas behind The Chordists over time. I have only shared a small portion of it, but I will be divulging a quite a bit very soon in the Ednath Chronicle!

Ooo, that's nifty! :3 I must say, it is a good thing the power source was removed; an unlucky customer might find themselves in quite a fix!

I simply must know: what is that long bit? It doesn't resemble anything I've ever seen, except a skeleton key... if I squint...
