Artist's Comments

To the Niminians, keys are a primal form of sexual expression.

Their clockwork bodies contain numerous auto winding features, so that while they remain moving throughout the day they seldom need to stop and rewind. But when they sleep, they can run low or even sometimes enter a frightening state of paralysis if they unwind completely.

So it has become a form of social etiquette or grooming to wind oneself up before bedtime or after waking from slumber, depending on the preference of the individual.

It is an extremely intimate act to allow someone to wind you up, as you are putting tremendous trust to them and exposing one of your most private and sensitive areas to the winder. The key inserts deep within the back of the Niminian between the shoulder blades. The feeling of something foreign being manipulated inside the Niminian's torso can be overwhelming at times if they are not used to allowing someone else to wind them up.

The act of actually turning the key can feel strange and uniquely pleasurable, as the Niminian's internal gears are forced to go backwards for a few minutes, the Niminian's senses become muddled and dreamlike, they feel as if time was reversed for a moment, and they feel a surge of vibrancy as their gears become more and more taught with stored energy within an array of special springs that drive their movements.

If a Niminian is accidentally (or more often then not purposefully) over wound, they have a release mechanism that begins spinning very rapidly just below their breastplate that burns off extra energy and makes a low pitched buzzing vibration sensation that some Niminians have discovered immense pleasure exploring.

This is the physical aspect of Niminian sexuality. The amazing possibilities that they can create through a direct connection of two or more Electri-cores is another thing entirely.

The piece itself is beautiful, but once again it seems that your amazing, thoughtful and insightful descriptions have matched if not exceeded the piece itself. Very well done!

Wow. The piece is beautiful, and the thought you've put into the Niminians' mechanics is wonderful.
