This device can be loaded with the DNA of another individual and when worn, it uses sub-magnetic psychic-array enhanced nano tech machines to alter the wearer and the donor.

The biochemistry of the wearer will be changed to best match and attract that of the DNA donor. The physical odors of the body, including perspiration and pheromones, will be altered for optimal attraction levels.

After the nanos have completed their task within the wearer, the donor is then targeted any time they are within range. They will begin to transfer to the body of the donor and rewrite the pleasure pathways of the mind, so that any time the donor comes within range of the wearer, they receive subtle but effective heightened levels of dopamine. This lasts for the duration of the visit, with the doses gradually lowering as exposure is continued.

As a bonus feature, the deluxe model also restructures the donor so that their biochemistry better matches that of the wearer, and gives dopamine hits to the wearer as well when exposed to the donor.

The tiny machines will naturally only recognize the exact DNA patterns, so any alterations the donor or wearer receives will interfere with the operations of the necklace.

This is a fine example of the sorts of strange and powerful device/adornments that were becoming common just before The Last War.

(I created this necklace as a special request for a woman who wants to wear something I made down the Wedding Aisle, a request was made to include a key motif. All of the parts except the heart are old vintage parts I have found in various places)

Love the structure of this one, particularly the way the gears are layered back onto the chain. The reddened clock hands look almost like they are glowing with heat.

As for its purpose... sounds like a fiendish way to engineer a politically advantageous match, among other things...

and yes, that these devices even exist is a sign of the decay of the legal system during those years. See also; viral marketing, zombie dust, psychic hats
