I love your work AND your stories . . . but okay.

This is obviously a containment chamber for a vapor only present on, oh, some alternate dimension exotic moon's volcanic vent or some such, collected by . . . Prof. Oddname?

See, I suck at this.

But let's say that vapor makes certain transformations possible, and the chambers are carried on missions by high-ranking Chrono Corps operatives . . .

*sigh*

Nope. Can't do it justice. We'll just have to wait until you've got more time and fewer bills. :)
