The informal title of this item is "Death Upon The Wind" and it hails from The Unholy Maelstrom timestream, although it's history is far more interesting than otherwise obvious.
When I analyzed this delectable little thing with the Chord Extractor, I discovered it has jumped timestreams thousands of times and has been around a grand total of 271 years, even though it was made in the relative date of 1893. The chords had been selectively excised in a very familliar pattern, and most of the data came up garbled. But I could at least tell the thing was carried by a man who played violin and lived on an airship from an alternate timestream I had never been to!
And then I was struck with the fact that I was looking at my own Chordist handiwork! But why had I obscured the data, and why did it land in my lap in the past? Was it dangerous? Was it coincidence?
Its pretty rare to find items that have traveled this much, so I knew there were only a few usual suspects it could have been traveling with. Checking my illegally downloaded copy of the Chrono-Corps registry gave me no hits, so I knew it was another 'criminal' Sidestepper's at some point.
Airship... time travel... violin... unregistered... a pirate perhaps? This narrowed it a bit.
Professor Fate was visiting to pick up a spare NaNa Technocorp Stratifier and he said he hadn't seen it before. The Veritas League hadn't seen it, and neither had the ladies of the Chronabelle, or the crew of the Inexplicable, nor the Steamrats, or anyone else...
This item had been completely wiped out of reality. There's only one crew that I would work with that goes through the trouble of doing that.
Now, to see if I can locate the Ophelia so I can give Nathaniel his medal back!
Are we to surmise from that tale that this is a gift for someone? That particular combination of hands and parts is rather beautifully done, though I have to say I didn't quite see the gun till I fullviewed.
woah... that's creepy, encountering your own handiwork from a different point in the time streams. one of the reasons why i tend to stay away from time/dimensional travel. :/

There are two kinds of people: Those who look for funny things to put in their signatures, those who come up with funny things for their signatures, and those who purposely don't keep track of numbers to make whatever they write seem funny.
